Week 23

I think I've mentioned before about how Mason has discovered Chewy and Dakota and is fascinated by what they do and where they go....well Chewy wants nothing to do with it! Mason will try to reach over and pet her and she is out of there! It's so funny to watch, Dakota on the other hand is so nice to him and loves the attention. Imagine that! So, its no secret that I love sweets! I mean who else gets cupcakes for breakfast on all major holidays? Right now I am desperately trying to find the grocery store icing recipe (like cupcake and birthday cake icing), I mean how hard can it be, every store in the world has this recipe and yet I can't seem to find it! Mason helped me with my quest this week and we got some OK icing recipes, but still can't find it. Mason just liked the box....he could care less about the rest of process! On Friday, we went to our friends Jere and Terrell's wedding. I was a little worried about how Mason would act, but he did a great job! The bride was beautiful and we had such a great time. What a beautiful night! Congratulations to you both!

Week 22

Big week! Not only did Mason turn 5 months old this week, but we also started solid foods! Mason's Dr. doesn't suggest starting solids until 6 months and she gave us a sheet of rules that said to start between 5-6 months and well we are now 5 months, so I started them. Plus, Mason has been sleeping through the night since he was 2 months old and all of the sudden for the past two weeks he's been waking up EVERY hour! I've been told that rice cereal and solids can help make babies full and sleep better.....so I thought that we would give it a try. At this point I would try anything! He's never been a bad sleeper so this is new territory for us! Even has a baby he only woke up twice a night. Anyways, I had been warned that most babies don't like the rice cereal and that feeding on a spoon can be frustrating, well Mason loved it! He loved the food and he loved the spoon! He loved it so much that he tried to feed himself. He gets really excited when the spoon comes out and starts smiling, and cooing. Its so funny. He's also started sitting up on his own for short periods of time. Its more of a tripod stance (he needs his arms to help balance) but its a start! I packed his first storage box of "no longer fits" outfits and its amazing how big he has gotten! It made me sad to see how small some of his outfits were! He's also starting to look like a real baby boy! :)

Josh's team won a golf tournament this week and Josh is trying to talk me into keeping his trophy on the mantle! Not going to happen....but way to go Team Williams Co.!

Week 21

We started swim lessons this week and lets just say that we will probably not be the next Michael Phelps! Mason hated it! We're taking lessons at one of friends house in the neighborhood and the instructor sings songs, has the babies float on their bellies and backs and even dunks them in and out of the water. Obviously Mason won't learn how to swim until he's older, but I want to get him used to the water....as of now...it looks like he'll be used to the water in about ten years! He cried and screamed until we eventually we had to get out of the water early. I'm hoping that he was just really tired after going to the city to eat lunch with Josh (he missed two of his afternoon naps!) cause he didn't cry when we went to the pool last weekend. We will see next week when we go back. We've also been working on rolling. He's been rolling for about two weeks, but nothing consistent. Its very hit and miss on actually flipping over. He's rolled from his belly to back and back to belly, but you just never know when he's going to do it. He loves to roll from side to side though and has actually started sleeping on his side. It's so funny to watch him rock back and forth and he does it all the time. Sunday was my first Mothers Day and it was fantastic! Mason and Josh gave me cinnamon rolls in bed and bought me a stargazer plant with a balloon and cookies with icing. After breakfast we had a family workout and then they took me shopping for the rest of the day. Thank you Josh and Mason for such a wonderful day! It was the best Mothers Day ever! I loved spending the day with my boys! And I want to say Happy Mothers Day to MeMe and Nana! We couldn't ask for better mom! Love you and miss you!

Week 20

Lots of pictures this week! Warning...its a long post....we started a play group this week and learned a lot. The other Moms are great and the other babies are all around Mason's age. So far Mason is the youngest but only by about two or three weeks, its so much fun to watch the older babies and see what Mason will be doing soon. We also learned that we do not have enough interactive toys. We have lots of "sit in" toys like the bouncer chair and swing and lots of "hold on to" toys and rattles, but not a lot of push, pull, toys. So I made Josh put together our ExerSaucer and Mason loves it! It is so fun to watch him push all the buttons and spin all the toys. He can flip the pages in the book to make new noises and just explores everything on the table. His feet are just shy of touching the ground..but he still makes it around the table. Chewy also got something new...a haircut! She was looking a little scruffy in the picture that I posted two weeks ago, so this week she got a haircut and man does she look funny! We've had a really hard time finding a groomer, so I took her back to Petsmart and told them that I wanted a summer cut for her. Well needless to say, they shaved all of her tummy and leg hair off and she looks super tiny and sort of like a rat. Poor Chewy! Last thing, our pools opened this week so we had to go check them out. There are three pools in our neighborhood and one is just down the road. It has a zero entry baby area with a cute frog slide (not that we will be using that this year, but maybe next year!) and a shade over most of the pool so we don't have to worry about burning. Mason was a little confused at first, but over all I think that he had a good time. We met our friend Grant at the pool and they both just sort of soaked it all in. He did enjoy floating around and all of the water spouts that came out of the baby pool.
