Week 32

So I've gotten behind on blogs because I spend my whole day chasing Mason around! Who knew they could be so fast?! And to make it worse, he's into EVERYTHING and leaves a trail of disaster behind him. At least I know where he's been by the mess he leaves behind him. He now loves to knock over the candlesticks, pull on any hanging cords like the lamp or his monitor cord, knock over picture frames, pull out the air fresheners (that have now all been removed!), chew on power cords and open the fireplace doors, and those are just some of his favorites! He also likes to pull himself up on things like dresser drawers and the bathtub. His other new favorite thing to do is to scream/screech when you take something away from him that he wants or if he doesn't get his way. It's crazy! Who knew a seven month old could throw such a fit?! Obviously we started to baby proof the house, but he still finds ways to get into trouble. The best is when he is doing something that he knows he's not supposed to do and I say "Mason No!", he'll stop what he's doing, turn and look at me, give me a big smile, and continue on doing what he's not supposed to be doing. I have to admit that its pretty cute, but talk about being mischievous!

Don't let his innocent face fool you!

Week 31

After a week of chasing Mason all over the house we got to spend a fantastic weekend in Corpus Christi with my parents and Larry and Judy. We had so much fun canal crawling, taking the boat to dinner, walking on the beach, and of coarse fishing. We arrived Friday night and took the boat out in the canals and over to a restaurant on the water. After we ate we just hung out on the dock at the house and did a little fishing. Josh ad I both caught fish, too bad no one else did! On Saturday the boys ad Jillian went fishing all day and the ladies and Mason went over to Port Aransas for lunch and drinks. The boys caught so many fish, it was amazing and made for a fantastic fish fry for dinner. On Sunday we took the boat out for more canal crawling and looked at all the gorgeous homes on the water. Mason loved the boat ride. He was all over the place in the house and even stood up by himself using the table. One minute he was playing on the floor, the next minute he was looking at me from across the table. I'm just getting used to the crawling, I am so not ready for standing and furniture cruising! It was so much fun to see my parents and Larry and Judy and can't wait to go back. Thanks for a great weekend!

week 30

My life will never be the same after this week....Mason is officially crawling! He's been pushing up into the crawl position and rocking for about a week and he started this week of by doing a step or two with his arms and legs and then throwing his belly foward and pushing back up to get to whatever it was he wanted (sort of like an inch worm), but by the end of the week he was pretty much going strong on the crawling. It still takes him a little while to get to objects that he wants, but I knew that we were in trouble mid week when he chased Chewy all the way across the bed and then from the pillows to the foot of the bed and back to the pillows....needless to say Chewy was not happy and her worst fear has now come true! Poor Chewy! This weekend was my "Birthday weekend" and on Friday we went to a local Mexican restaurant for margaritas and dinner. We had so much fun hanging out and I am so thankful for our friends here! You girls and guys are the best!
Army crawling and scooting
Got it!

Mason jerked while I was cutting his nails...its his first non-shot band-aid! :(

I buy him TONS of toys and yet he played with the water bottle for almost an hour!

More fun with the water bottle

Week 29

We've adjusted to being back home and had a fabulous three day weekend! I'm getting spoiled by having Josh around all the time and love the extra time with him. This week we started taking big boy baths in the big tub and Mason loves it. He's fascinated with the water spout and loves splashing and playing with his toys. I must admit, I'm a little sad that we aren't using the baby bath anymore. It was a lot easier to stand in front of the sink instead of bending over the tub, but I am learning to adjust! We had our last swim lesson this week and I have a feeling Mason is not sad about it! He did get better at the end, but was still not a big fan. Its so funny how he loves the pool, just not during lessons. Thursday and Friday night we went out to dinner with friends and on Saturday we had a cookout at the Collins house before going to the fireworks in our neighborhood. Our neighborhood had a fantastic display and a super fun band. Everyone brought blankets and coolers and just hung out on the hill, listened to good music, and enjoyed a great evening! I was a little worried how Mason would react to the fireworks (just because of the noise) but he loved them. It wasn't too loud and we all know how he loves anything that lights up! We really missed being with our family this weekend but realized how lucky we are to have met such good friends here. We have so much fun with all of them and they make it so much easier to be so far away from home!
