If I said what a week, it would be an understatement! It started out with Mason having really bad diaper rash and diarrhea. He was so sad for about two days and was being super lovely. He was very clingy and just wanted to lay on my chest. He was even nice to Paige the babysitter and just wanted her to hold him! About midweek he started feeling better and was all over the place again. On Thursday we were out and about all day running errands and he was back to normal again. Thursday night I was getting ready to make dinner and Mason was playing in the kitchen. He was crawling in the hallway and Dakota was coming out of the laundry room and ran right into him. He got startled by Mason since he didn't see him coming and jumped. When he came down, he knocked Mason down and stepped on him. Needless to say, Mason was hurt and bleeding. I saw the whole thing happen and there was nothing that I could do about it. That has to be the worst feeling in the whole world! I grabbed Mason and literally ran to get him in the car and headed for the ER. (Thanks Andrew for pointing out my excellent first aide skills! ha ha!) Josh was just leaving work, so I called him to have him meet us there. I thought that there was a minor emergency hospital a few miles away, but when I got there it was closed. I had to take him to the hospital about 10 miles or so away, but with 6:00 traffic it took about 45 mins! When we got to the ER Mason had stopped crying and was really tired (it was almost bedtime), but was still laughing and flirting with the nurses. I on the other hand, was a wreck. Josh got there at the same time I did (that's how long it took me to get there!) and the ER was fast about getting Mason fixed up. He ended up with 6 staples on the top of his head, two on the side and 5 stitches over his eye. I think that Josh and I are way more upset then he is. For Dakota, he has no idea that something happened. I was really upset with the nurse in the ER because she kept saying it was a dog bite (his mouth was no where near Mason!) and when I would correct her, she would say "a dog bite and dog attack are the same thing". She could not seem to understand that Dakota did not attack Mason! It was a complete accident. That being said, it makes Josh and my decision even harder considering we can't teach Dakota not to cause accidents and we can't take the risk that it might happen again. Obviously we are really upset about all of this and are just trying to figure out what to do next. With Dakota's size, it just makes it really hard with a mobile baby around. Mason is doing just fine now (after he was done getting bandaged, he was playing peek-a-boo with the curtain in the ER room and the nurses station!) I think that Josh and are way more upset then he is. He hasn't even noticed and doesn't act like he's in pain. I swear nothing is going to stop that kid! All i have to say is now we've had our first ER visit and I don't want to go back for a l-o-n-g time...if ever!

Week 40
9 months old! Can you believe it? Where has the time gone? Mason went to the Dr. this week for his wellness check up. He was 29 inches tall (75%) and weighed 19.2 oz (25%). The funniest part was when the nurse was checking is weight percentile and saw he was in the 25%, she said "he sure doesn't look skinny!" and I said yeah he's kind of chunky and then she said "well he isn't skipping meals that's for sure!" Ha ha Poor Mason! Even if 75% of the kids way more then him, he still looks chunky and I love it! The rest of the appointment went like always, everything looks great, he got his shots, and then they gave me a flu shot too. I was a little worried that I would cry more then him, but no worries I was a big girl too! This weekend we went to Hominy for Josh's 10 year high school reunion and had a great time. Mason did great on the flight (again) and was even good for Nana. We got to spend the weekend with Kari and Nick and had so much fun meeting all of Josh's friends. I must admit that we are officially getting old and all of the late nights got to me! I have to say though....Cody makes a mean pizza at 3 am! It was a very fast trip, but we got to go to Bartlesville on Sunday for a few hours before we left and hung out with MeMe, Grandpa and Laura Lee. We even got to see Megan for a little bit! It was a very fun weekend!

Week 39
Its official! We have now been in Houston for one year. I can not believe that its already been a year. It's gone by so fast! This week was both good and bad. It started out good, I officially started working again. For those that don't know, I started a small business teaching All-Star Cheerleading in our neighborhood. Opening week went off without a hitch and I have around 45 girls. I am really excited about this opportunity and to be able to stay home with Mason all day and make a little money on the side, is the best of both worlds. I did get a little sad on Tuesday when I came home and Mason was already in bed and asleep. He had a rough time with the babysitter (he cried for two hours until Josh got home!) and I hadn't been able to put him to bed the past two nights. I know that it will get better and like I said, its only two nights a week. The rest of the week went down hill from there! My computer crashed for the 2nd time in 6 months and I lost everything! All my files, pictures, everything. I'm still tying to get over that set back! Josh and I are both fighting small colds or allergies and Mason has had a runny nose all week! I'm not sure if his is teething or allergies. He doesn't have a fever or anything like that, but you can tell that he's not up to par. I got a bad haircut, have had cell phone issues, and I've been trying to get files organized, so I'm really ready for this week to be over! Ha Ha! Masons still keeps me on my toes daily! His new thing is to pull things out of containers and dump them on the floor. It doesn't matter if its a bucket, basket, drawer, it can be anything! He also has started wanting to stand up in the sit part of the cart while we are shopping, so I started letting him stand in the basket. He loves it! Its so funny to watch him smile and try and make eye contact with everyone that walks by! I think he thinks he's captain of cart!
Week 38
Boomer Sooner! Football season has started and we spent the week getting ready for it! Mason has been having way too much fun with the laundry basket lately. I've started putting all of his toys in the basket and he's started digging around in it and pulling things out. I heard this loud bang noise and I look over and Mason's legs are dangling as he's head first in the basket! The first time i didn't get a picture, but you better believe I got one the second time! He also likes to sit in the basket and take everything out, flip it over, and use it to walk with. He started doing that about two weeks ago and has gotten pretty good at it. Big weekend! Nana came and stayed with Mason while Josh and I went with my family to the OU game in Dallas. I was really worried about Mason considering he's still dealing with separation anxiety, but according to Nana he did really well. We slipped away during his nap and when he woke up was a little sad that we weren't' there. But since he was in his own house with the dogs (by the way Chewy is his new best friend! She figured out his hands usually have some sort of food on them and now she loves him!) I think that things were familiar enough where he didn't have a major meltdown. Well at least that's what Nana said. I think that I did really well too considering it was my first time overnight without him! We had so much fun at the game, well minus the ending! The Cowboys stadium was awesome and our seats were fantastic (thanks Mom and Dad!). We had bloody marys, hot wings, watched football, tailgated, went to the game, and hung out all day. It was the perfect way too kickoff football season, except, like I said earlier, the outcome of the game! Lucky for us, we had a bar right next to our seats in the stadium. It made the game a little more bearable! Boomer Sooner!!! We will be back, you just wait!
Digging for toys
Week 37
Josh had to do some work in Oklahoma this week, so Mason and I decided to tag along and see family. We went to Bartlesville the first part of the week while Josh worked and went to Hominy for the weekend to celebrate Josh's birthday. Mason did great on the flight, he slept most of the way there and was really fascinated by the tray on the way home. He just pulled it up and down over and over. He's going through a big dad face right now, so he wanted to be with Josh the whole flight and trust me, that is A-OK with me. In Bartlesville we had a great time hanging out with family, we went to the park one day, cooked out, and bought lots of Sooner stuff for football season! We even got to go to lunch with Megan and Megan one day and meet baby Kate. I took Mason to the gym one day and he loved it. He was a little confused by the trampoline, but had a blast in the pit and all the mats. In Hominy we had a cookout for Josh's birthday, what a great excuse to get the family together. All 6 grand kids were there and its fun to watch them interact. Mason is still going through the separation anxiety issue right now, so with all the new people around all week it was a little much for him. He does fine as long as Josh or I am in sight, but if we leave, man does he scream! It was funny, I think this is the first time he was really aware that he was in a new place. The other times we've been home, he hasn't really noticed, but he definitely new this time! It was so fun to see everyone and the weather was amazing! Its crazy how fast a week goes by!
